My Creed

If you can see beyond someone's dark mask of pain
And opt to help regardless of personal gain…
If you offer alms to those you find in dire need,
Not because you have to but as a selfless deed…
If you are capable to aid a homeless stray,
And not only with food, but by choosing to stay...
If you manage to forgive but also to forget
And proceed in life overcoming fears and regret…
If you find the strength to give others courage and light
Even when your own soul may be by sorrow in blight…
If you always set your goals clear and sky high
But never step on people on your way to rise…
If you respect not what but who you have in life,
And cherish their time as the ultimate prize...
If you brighten a stranger's ordinary day
With a simple hello or a smile sent their way…
If you are insulted or unfairly put down
Yet you don't retaliate but just stay calm...
If you are able to glance beyond the mundane
And find colors underneath the palette of gray….
If you strive to put the needs of others first
And generously time and effort to disperse
If you into a habit the small gestures make
Purely for happiness and genuine joy's sake…
If to your principles and values you stay true
But are there for whoever has a heart of blue...

  Then, you are not an angel of divine design,
But a real human being of a rare kind -
One of those who have an undeniable worth
